Take Note Projects - Sharon Newport

Hi everyone! Sharon here.

Its been an awesome week hasn't it? Weather has been shocking all over the country....perfect for crafting I think!!!
I was thrilled to be sent some Kaisercraft Take Note to play with this last week or so. The colours are very versatile to work with, so I enjoyed using it across a range of projects.

The first thing I made was a layout. I found that the specialty paper, was just a tad too white for the look I was after, so I sprayed it with a black mist. These specialty papers are awesome ...the shiny detail on the paper will not take up the ink, so the black mist just tinted the white background, leaving the detailed pattern untouched. Perfect! There are a lot of layers in this layout, and you will see from the photo, that with the various mixed media products I used, ( mists and gel medium) the paper has warped a little. Usually I sit the page under a heavy book for a day after I have applied mediums like this to be able to photograph, but excitement got the better of me!.....so I apologise for the wonky looking lines, they are actually quite straight believe me!

This close up shows the detailed layering on the page....

The next page I made was using divided page protectors ( project life page protectors). I found these to be awesome for displaying photos of an event or photos that are in a set, not only for traditional project life pages.

The divided protectors I chose to use, have a 6x12 section along the top, where I displayed the main photo of the layout. I then added some flowers and a little layering of the take note papers. In the bottom half of the page protector, are three 6x4 slots to display your photos. I decided to print my landscape orientation photos in two halves, and spread them across the base of the double layout.

In the second page of the double layout, I made a wee mini book which I adhered to the top section of the layout. I split the page protector, so that the album can be accessed without having to delve into the page protector. This mini book, then holds a further five photos. A close up below shows this.

I have found that when splitting a page protector to be able to add an interactive element to the page, the best thing to do is to use a hole punch to punch a hole at either end of where you want the split to be. The physics of why a circle is stronger than a straight line is too complicated to answer here LOL, but it certainly reinforces the split; ensuring it doesn't travel further than you want it to.

The last page I have to show you today, is a heritage layout I created with the Take Note papers. I found the papers to perfectly suit a little grungy treatment to make them look old, paired up with some old music sheet paper, and layering the elements up to create a feminine vintage feel.
I used a doily stencil to apply some metallic texture paste as a background element, and then layered the rest of the papers over the top. A few strategically placed die cuts from the range, and some Kaiser roses finish the page off nicely.

Of course, you can find this range here in the shop Take-Note

I really enjoyed "playing" with this range, and I look forward to seeing what you have been able to use this for in the gallery soon.

Thanks for looking, and I look forward to being back in a week or two with some creations from another fabulous Kaisercraft range.

Cheers
Sharon
